Fernando joined TxCDC in 2018 and brings a special skillset to his position as Senior Credit Analyst and Underwriter. The Central Texas resident is accomplished at completing credit and financial analyses and has a deep interest in architectural engineering, which helps him understand construction schematics and processes.

Fernando is bilingual which has helped him foster strong relationships with Austin’s banking and small business community throughout his career. He plans to continue using his network to help small business owners grow their businesses through the SBA 504 loan program.

Fernando first entered the world of banking in 1989 while attending the University of Texas. The Biology major discovered that banking was a better match for his abilities and interests and eventually pursued a full-time career in the industry.

Since 1998, Fernando has built a diverse professional portfolio that includes many aspects of banking and finance including retail, investment and insurance experience. The analytical and technical thinker also worked in consumer and commercial lending for more than 15 years, including two years most recently building a commercial portfolio at an Austin area credit union.

In his spare time, Fernando enjoys spending time with his family and participating in outdoor activities, including golf, exercising, mountain biking and yard work. He has a passion for all types of music and plays the trumpet, drums, piano and guitar.
