An entrepreneur for 45 years, Paul Tovar founded TxCDC in 1981. In his role as chairman of the board and loan committee, Paul assists in developing new financial resources, marketing TxCDC’s financial programs and representing the company to private and public entities.
Prior to founding TxCDC, Paul worked as a pharmacist, eventually owning a pharmacy, health care facilities, insurance companies and business service companies. He has been actively involved in local and statewide community development initiatives and is a past chair of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Paul has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin and has completed post-graduate work in long-term health care administration, real estate, banking and business.
Paul’s life-long passion has always been promoting good health. The vision he shares with everyone he meets is the creation of a community that is healthier in mind, body and spirit. Although Paul has built-in radar for donut shops, his teachings are of a more balanced diet philosophy. His search for knowledge has taken him globally, and his pursuit to educate has taken him into many strangers’ — now friends’ — homes.
