Community

TxCDC is a proud supporter of any organization, business or individual committed to helping our communities thrive. Whether assisting business with growth for success and job creation or simply supporting the efforts of those who are doing their part in helping our communities, it’s all part of our overarching mission to help better the livelihood of our friends, family and neighbors. From time to time, we’ll share information, news and other resources here. For more information about TxCDC and our mission, click here.

Missing School Matters Central Texas Attendance Campaign

In an effort to curb absence, E3 Alliance has implemented a campaign to communicate the importance of school attendance. Each year, Central Texas students are absent 2.4 million days of school. Students in Central Texas miss more days of school than their peers across the state in every grade. The problem worsens in high school, when Central Texas students are absent far more than in other parts of the state.

TxCDC is pledging to do our part to help communicate and practice these efforts. Make friends, neighbors, and coworkers aware of the impact of poor attendance. Offer incentives to employees to increase parental involvement and student attendance. Put an article in your organization’s newsletter. Community efforts do have an impact. Central Texas schools that participated in a national attendance challenge increased their attendance by over 2%, proving we can reach our regional goal if we all work together.
